The PSC offers UB employees and their immediate families a special reduced fee of $20 maximum per (50-minute) hour for psychological services provided by clinicians in the Psychological Services Center. This fee is substantially lower than the cost of the co-pay for mental health treatment required by most of UB's employee health insurance plans. (Note, though, that we do not accept insurance. This ensures clients both greater privacy and greater control over the length of treatment. Each client and therapist decide together how long treatment should continue, rather than having an insurance company determining when services need to end).
To determine your fee for each 50-minute session, find the row in the table
below that indicates your family's total income and the column that
indicates the total number of people who live in your household. Circle the
fee where the appropriate row and column intersect.
If you have extenuating circumstances that you believe make it impossible
for you to pay your determined fee, please discuss your situation with your
clinician. Your clinician will consult with the director of the PSC (the
only person authorized to grant permission for further fee reductions) and
then contact you to let you know whether, and how much, your fee can be
reduced. Sliding fee schedule based on total family income (rows) and total
family size.
